Café Style Shutters
Lower-window shutters that add privacy where it is needed while leaving the upper glass open to daylight.
Book a free surveyA lighter treatment for overlooked windows
Café style shutters cover the lower part of a window and leave the upper section uncovered. They are particularly useful for street-facing rooms where eye-level privacy matters but blocking the full window would feel too enclosed. The result is an intentionally lighter arrangement that keeps the upper view open and allows daylight to enter above the shutters.
The correct finishing height depends on the window and the sightlines outside, so it is established during the survey rather than assumed. We consider glazing bars, furniture, handles and how the panels need to open before planning the frame and panel divisions. Café style shutters do not provide full-window coverage, and we will explain that trade-off clearly before the shutters are made and fitted.
