Traditional form

A substantial alternative to louvred panels

Solid panel shutters use opaque panels rather than adjustable louvres. When closed, they block the direct view through the window and create a more enclosed treatment with a distinctly traditional character. Their broad panel surfaces can suit period interiors, bedrooms and rooms where strong visual privacy is valued. When the panels are opened, the glazing is uncovered rather than filtered through louvres.

The panel proportions and opening arrangement need to work with the window and the available wall or reveal space. During the survey, we check handles, sill depth, furniture and how far each panel can fold back. We also discuss the difference between solid and louvred shutters so the day-to-day light control is understood before you decide. The final set is made to measure, fitted and aligned for reliable movement.
